  • God’s promises across Scripture: Trace the promise of a Savior from Genesis through the prophets to the birth of Jesus.
  • Hope in the waiting: See God’s faithfulness to His people and consider how His promises help you wait for Christ’s return.
  • The meaning of Christ’s coming: Reflect on the hope, peace, joy, and love found in Jesus, Immanuel, God with us.

Christmas can fill our days so quickly that we struggle to pause and consider the One we celebrate. Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus invites you to spend four weeks in God’s Word, tracing His promises from the first hope of a Savior in Genesis to their fulfillment in the birth of Christ. As you study, you’ll see God’s faithfulness across generations and consider what it means to wait for Jesus to come again.

Each week includes guided Scripture study using the Precept Bible Study Method. You’ll read and mark the text, ask what it says and means, and consider how to apply it to your life. Weekly Rest in the Promise devotionals focus on hope, peace, joy, and love. Reflection questions and group discussion guides give you ways to study on your own or with others.
